PD-1728
the sub-$150 Seagull automatic
A 40mm steel automatic on a Seagull ST16 with sapphire and 330 ft of water resistance for about $142, but the strap is a strange 24.5mm and the page is thin.

Mechanical watches under $150 are rare enough that the PD-1728 gets a look on the strength of its price alone. For $142.49 on Pagani Design’s own page, where it is marked 10% off, you get a 40mm case in 316L steel, a sapphire crystal with hard and anti-reflective coatings, and an automatic Seagull ST16 with a 40-hour power reserve.
The ST16 is a Chinese movement of the workhorse sort. Forty hours is enough for a weekend in the drawer, no more. The page says nothing about hacking, hand-winding or accuracy, so I will not either. Water resistance is 330 feet, Pagani Design’s own figure rather than a certified one, so think rain and handwashing.
Here is the awkward part. The case is 13.4mm thick and weighs 133g, and the page lists a strap width of 24.5mm, with a note that it takes standard 24mm straps. That is a big number to shop for and a lot of strap for a 40mm case. Lug to lug is not published at all. I would hold off until you have a measurement in hand, because wearability here is the open question.
My view: a fair way to find out whether you like mechanical watches without spending much. If you want the same idea with a documented spec sheet and a hand-winding movement, the Bambino 38 costs more and tells you more. For Seagull heritage proper, see the 1963.
