Most homage watches copy the look and shrug at the size. The Baltany S4015A copies the size too: a 36mm case, 8.9mm thick, 43.3mm lug to lug on an 18mm strap, which is how a 1920s wristwatch actually wore. Baltany’s own product page calls it a tribute to the 1926 Oyster, and that is exactly the right level of candour for a watch at this price.
The maker’s specification is better than the category usually manages. A Miyota 9039 automatic, domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating, a screw-down crown and caseback, and a 200M rating, for a list price of $338. The 9039 is a sturdy, ordinary movement. Baltany gives its reserve as “more than 42 hours,” which is a floor, not a figure, and the page says nothing about hacking or hand-winding. I would not assume either.
That 200M number deserves some suspicion. It is a claim on a product page. It is not a Diver’s rating and no certification is stated, so treat it as a splash and swim number and do not test it with a dive computer on your other wrist.
Here is where I land: this is a good small watch from a brand with no service network I could verify, and the funds you save compared with a heritage house are partly a bet on that. If you want the safety of an established name, the Orient Bambino 38 sits below it in price. If you simply want a 36mm vintage-proportioned automatic and understand the trade, it is worth a look.
