Instagram made this dial famous before most people who liked the post had ever wound the movement inside it. The Cocktail Time line is named for dials that read like backlit drinks, and the SRPE45, a gradated emerald green that the community nicknamed the Mojito, is the one that actually sells.
The case is 38.5mm across, 45.4mm lug to lug, 11.8mm thick: proportions cut for a shirt cuff, not a dive computer. Inside is Seiko’s own 4R35, hacking and hand-winding, good for about 41 hours on a full wind, per Seiko’s SRPE45J1 page. The crystal is box-shaped Hardlex rather than sapphire, and the 20mm leather strap sits on quick-release spring bars, so a strap swap takes ten seconds and no tools.
Here is the trade the product photos don’t show you: at $450 list you get mineral glass and 41 hours of reserve, while Hamilton will sell you a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and 80 hours for not dramatically more money. The dial finishing, the pressed pattern under gloss lacquer, earns every bit of its reputation. The rest of the spec sheet is ordinary Seiko wearing a good suit.
I’d still recommend it, with the Hamilton Khaki Field named as the thing to check first if a long weekend off the wrist matters more to you than the dial does. The Cocktail Time built its following on looks, and that’s a legitimate way for a watch to earn a following.
