Atlas notes

The S456 is the budget GMT conversation in one sentence: a 41mm steel case, a sapphire bezel insert and a Seiko NH34 for roughly what a plain three-hand diver costs from a brand with a bigger name. Pairing a GMT hand with a sapphire bezel at about $240 is the whole pitch, and it is a good one.

The dimensions are the honest part. 41mm across, 13mm thick, 48.8mm lug to lug, on 20mm lugs. That is a sensible wrist size for most people and a standard strap width, which matters more than it sounds when you want to swap a bracelet for a NATO on a watch you intend to travel with. The NH34 runs at 3 Hz and carries a power reserve of over 40 hours, so leave it off the wrist for two days and it will be stopped on the third.

Now the asterisk. The maker’s own pages disagree on water resistance: one says 20 ATM and 200 meters, a sister storefront says 10 ATM and 100 meters. I do not know which is right, and neither page tells me. For a GMT you will wear in the shower and the pool, 100 meters is plenty. But a diver’s rating on the label and a pool-safe rating in practice are different promises, so do not buy it on the 200 number. The clasp is also undocumented in anything I could verify, and on a steel bracelet that is the part I would want to see before paying.

At $240 to $280 (both storefronts showed sold out when I checked, so the street price may move) I would call it a fair deal rather than a steal. If you want a GMT hand and a sapphire bezel without spending four figures, it is worth a look. If you just want a dependable $230 diver, the Seestern S434 or the Steeldive SD1975 does that with fewer unanswered questions.
